There is a lot more to consider when moving a door opening then just the sheet rock. That opening has a frame with double studs on both sides, a load bearing header above the opening, and may have wires or other items hidden in the wall where you want to take the 12 inches from. Also you need to consider how you will handle the flooring. That 12 inch space where the current wall footer is, has only rough floor (probably concrete) under it. Then you will need to paint the new wall section on the filled side.
Moving the door opening 12 inches can be done but involves a lot more work and cost then you might think.
So look for a general contractor who handles remodeling type work. A guesstimate on the cost would be around $800 to $1000.
