Where to buy bulk rock for landscaping?
There must be some in the area. Buying the pre packaged stuff at Lowes/Home Depot is to expensive.

Have you tried Dirt Cheap in Summerfield? Its near Markets of Marion. I don't know if they deliver but I do know that many of our landscapers get their rocks from them.

Rousoe's Dirt Cheap located 1 mile before the Marion Market (opposite side of the road) on Hwy 441/27. They have dozens of choices for rock, bark, etc. They also sell large rocks, pavers, and flagstone. They have a rack that holds at least 50 business cards sitting on the counter. Based on the cards I saw, apparently most of the landscapers that service The Villages buy their rock from Dirt Cheap.

I went to Browne landscape 441/27
good prices, pickup or delivery for $25 Patty or Debbie 326 8461 Nice to deal with mulch 23 yard, stone river rock 40 yd |
Dirt Cheap is the place to go. Browne's is fine too.

THE SUREST & QUICKEST WAY TO KILL NEW PLANTINGS/OR established trees & shrubs is to surround them in rocks so they can't breath or keep moisture in. Look at all the round-abouts, there are NO rocks only pine straw or pine bark. The Villages pay big bucks to make the landscape live, thus no rocks or colored bark, no rubber bark, nothing but ala-natural ground coverings.

Agree, but some folks don't care

I want large round rocks to use as a border, I agree natural products like pine straw or bark is the best thing for your plants. Little rocks are so pretty but they can burn your plants and smother your roots..

CustomScapes
Custom Scapes has a nice listing of premier homes and extensive corner lot landscaping but forget them for small jobs. Lance came out, gave me a quote then left me high and dry as far as what would be done. So much for showing a customer what they were paying for. Courtyard Villas not showy enough. Very disappointed in this company's attitude. Found a competitor that thought my $6,000 was just fine and was a joy to work with.

My front bed in my pre-owned home has rock and from I am told an expensive rock. Hate it. Just put beds across the entire rear of my house and have them filled with mulch - a friend of the earth that breaks down and nourishes the soil. I do not have weed block because I want to nurture and bring along the soil in these beds so that plants can thrive - not survive. I know I have to replace this mulch, but it is almost a right of passage from winter to spring. You can stand there and actually smell the earth. Love it. "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature"!
