The Godfather

I was wondering if anyone would interested in having Godfather parties on a periodic basis. I haven't seen The Godfather I and II in a while and thought it would be a reason to get together. Forgetabouuuuuittttt for Godfather III.

Is anyone interested?

As long as you don't bring a dead horse's head......or expect us to bring one.

"I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse." –
"Leave the gun. Take the cannoli." – Nominated
"It's a Sicilian message. It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes." – Nominated

I would be happy to bring a baked lasagna.......if we are there, that is.

We watch it over again about once a year.......like the part where they show Michael's father, played by Robert DeNiro, as a new immigrant to the teeming streets and tenements of New York City......when the "Black Hand" controlled all the merchants. The feasts, etc. That's how it was when my paternal Italian grandparents lived on Mott Street in the late 1890's, etc.........first Elizabeth Street and then Mott.....

Every single one of my dad's immediate and extended family are all buried at Calvary Cemetery in Woodside, Queens, New York...........in the movie there was a scene at Calvary.

Also like the segment where Michael goes back to Sicily...........(Just remembering that I had uncles with names like Vito, Michele/Michael, and on and on.........)

The Godfather - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also, the theme (music) to the Godfather movie is hauntingly beautiful..........I remember weddings like the one in the opening scene. Maybe not that elaborate, but similar.....when I was a flower girl for my aunts.

Thanks for the links. I guess there are no too many takers of watching The Godfather and having a get together. It's not like we have to pay attention as we all know the movie so well. Oh well!

I guess it's you and I.

Had to Goggle the secone saying. Maybe I learn Italian in retirement.

Mother and father was Americanized before their children were born as we only spoke English. My father was Portugese and my mother had to learn it, as he refused to learn Italian.

They used to start sentences in english and then jump to portugese to keep us from knowing what they were saying. They had friends over and would speak in their native tongues.

"Whatever will be will be"......
"Maybe they think you are in the mob"........what, a nice guy like you?

We only spoke English at home also.
My dad spoke Italian to his family, especially his mother.
All the rest spoke English.

Ditto for my mom who spoke Ukrainian to her mother only.
