Best Flooring ideas for enclosed lanai

We are expanding and enclosing our lanai with glass and was told that tile would be the best flooring. I am wondering how tile will hold up since we hope to have the sliding glass doors open most of the time and they open out to the birdcage that also will be new.Any ideas about choice of flooring (for both lanai and birdcage) or if we choose tile what kind would be best. Thanks for any ideas!

We are closing next week and plan on staining our lanai with two or three colors to give it a marbled and verigated look. It is inexpensive and will hold up well with just occasional cleaning and recoating every few years.

I have porcelain tiles in my "Florida " room up north. It is like being on ice when it is wet. I have to have a runner so we don't break our necks. We have it enclosed but when you come in with wet shoes it can be dangerous .

We did concrete staining and I have a beautiful, large rug in the center of the room. It grounds it and gives it a very welcoming feeling. You could do the birdcage floor in the same or simlair design to allow both rooms to flow.

I have tile in my lanai and I love it. It is not slippery when wet. It is the same type of tile used in bathrooms and kitchens. It is easy to keep clean and it gives a nice finished look to the lanai.

We had Chattahoochee river rock put down in our lanai. We LOVE it and as it is water permeable, do not find it to be slippery when wet. They use it for pool decks. No seams and it sparkles in the sunlight. A breeze to keep clean.

We used an acrylic coating for our lanai and have been very pleased with it. That option offers a very large selection of colors and decorative combinations and is easy to clean. This would also be appropriate for your bird cage.
