TV Rules and Elder Home Care
 

I suppose this question might apply to any community.

How does TV deal with situations where an elderly person needs assistance in the home and wants to hire live-in help.

For example, let say the husband needs hands on help, and the wife can no long provide the help because of her strength limitations.

To try to keep the husband in the home longer, they decide to hire someone to stay in the home with them for some period. Maybe 6 months to 18 months.

The person that is being hired is younger (e.g., 30 years old).

Would that couple run afoul of the age restriction rule? Do they differentiate between guests and live-in help for medical need?

Even guests can stay in a home permanently so long as they are over 19 years of ago, so should be no problem for live-in help. (If you need the name of someone, I know of a great CNA that took care of a dear friend before she passed. Just PM me.)

As long as they are over 19 no issues. I have a neighbor with a late 20 niece that lives with them and helps with care. I have also met a few couples that are living with a parent and providing care, I don't think it's all that unusual

You've got to remember that the "age restriction" rule is something like 'One person on the deed has to be 55 or older' in order for TV to retain it's retirement community status. As long as house residents are 19 or older, it is OK for them to live there. Actually, the one 55+ person on the deed does not have to live in the home (i.e. look at all the rentals here where the owner does not live in the home).

I think the general rule is that anyone over 19 can be a permanent resident as long as one person in the home is 55 or older and also the owner of the property.

As long as the care giver is at least 19 years old, no problem.
