Have you asked your lawn service if they would like to do this? My lawn service will do just about anything I ask of them and they are very reasonable.

Someone to Weed

I use "Over 30" to periodically de-weed my yard. They can be reached at 877-316-5093 and charge $13 per hour with a 3-hour minimum. They have done a really good job each time I have used them.

We had our first lawn service at our first house here weed. They didn't pull them, they sprayed them and it worked. It also did a good job killing my annuals too. Weeding is back breaking work...the more "grown up" you become.

I find that having our pine straw deep enough it keeps weeds from happening. That is what they do in the common areas all around town, they use pine straw and that is pretty effective if you look closely you rarely see weeds.

There are advocates of bark chips, stones etc.etc.etc.

I am a staunch advocate for pine straw...Sweetie is not. He is thinkng stones. So far pine straw is winning. But we need to do it again soon, have new straw. We are having a disagreement.

I will get custody of the cats and Helene. He says he will.;)

I hope it doesn't come to that. Things have been working out real good so far in our marriage...and come next week, it will be 51 years.

Nice and very amusing post! My lawn service are excellent and very accommodating, which I suppose cannot be said for all lawn services. I am thinking of switching to pine straw as the weeds are really really enjoying my very expensive "organic" mulch.

As for switching the "other half" for a newer model -- we've got to the age where no one would want either one of us, so this is it till death do us part ............ you get the drift!

Gracie you are soooo cute

Sweetie would be a fool to ever lose you.....

We use pine straw also, I'll weed "here and there" but for the most part, pine straw keeps weeds to a minimum.....I follow TV landscaping guide to a "tee"....Even annuals.....

Kathy and David Vial of Vidal Landscaping will weed for you...big jobs or small. Very reasonable and so easy to work with.

Congratulations on 51. Deanna and I just celebrated 46 years in March. I, too, would like stone but I think I've lost that battle. Good to hear about the pine mulch and we use Roundup Extended for weeds.

We have a rocked landscape and used Nature's Own for two years back in 2010-11. They did a terrific job during that time then without warning, they became less and less dependable. Since that time, we have tried a host of people (businesses) who said they would weed, but only sprayed. We are now into year two in search of a company or individual who actually pulls weeds and spray. We have yet to find anyone to fit the bill unless we want to pay $15/25 an hour. We're not about to pay that much every ten or 15 days particularly since we are likely not to be in residence when their services are needed. So, if anyone out there has a good weeding reference, I would certainly be interested in knowing about them. PLEASE DON'T POST ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T SPECIFICALLY RELATE TO A REFERENCE.

Ouch.

Redwitch is a very good weeder but she works so hard and wears so many hats that sometimes she can't do everything, that everyone wants her to do.

I hope she will always have time to take care of our kitties when we go away.

AND staying on track as you suggested,

You can PM Redwitch. She is a poster on here.

I have had many people weeding but haven't found anyone who does it to my satisfaction. I recently used Brittany of Magic Broom Squad for weeding. I was in dire need so you can imagine how many weeds there were. Brittany did the job very well, she pulled only, I asked her not to spray for fear of losing some of my beautiful flowers. But the weeding job she did was excellent. She's good because she listens and does the weeding on her hands and knees so you know she's getting to the roots.

She will do many odd jobs, house cleaning, yard work, and next she's going to help me clean up my garage. You can reach her at 352 391 8274.

Ditto for Magic Broom Squad! Brittany is a young woman who doesn’t hesitate to get down on her hands and knees and get dirty to do whatever the job is that she’s asked to do. Weeds need to be pulled—and pulled carefully—and she does it. Spraying just adds more chemicals to our lives when there are way too many already (but this is a whole other topic).

She’ll do many other jobs around the house besides weeding. She lives in TV, making her more accessible, and her card lists a land line 352-391-9554, besides her cell number given by the previous poster 352-391-8274. Very highly recommended, especially when we think about the inadequate job done by companies whose advertising we pay for before we get to receive any of their services. Call her and you will not be disappointed!

Do not get stone. Everyone I know who has stone has many weeds. The dirt eventually gets into the rocks just enough to let the little weeds grow. We us a thick layer of fine mulch and have very few weed problems.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

But I'm with Sweetie. We tracked way too much pine straw into the house. But then, you don't have a dog, and maybe Sweetie is more careful than Ron is. Or has smaller feet.

My apologies. That was off topic.
