Maintenance for a Yamaha Gas Cart
 

We currently have put a lot of money into our 2008 Par Car. We have put 2 sets of batteries, front end work, brakes, etc. We were considering trading it in for a Yamaha Gas Cart.

We would like to hear from the gas cart owners about their experiences and maintenance you may have done.

The cost of a golf cart is a big investment and we want to make a good decision!!

I have 3 Yamaha carts. Two gas and one electric. They are all problem free and very reliable. Would recommend them highly.

We have two Yamaha gas carts (2006 and 2012) and have experienced no problems. Purchased from Ralph Wolf at The Villages Golf Car Store in LSL, have annual service, check tire pressure routinely, fill with 87 octane petro about every 3-4 weeks and off we go, worry free. Could not be happier with our cart purchase decision. The 2006 was a reconditioned and the 2012 was new.

The service is easy, call and they will come pickup then deliver when serviced. Easy peasy. Because they are local they are in best position to offer services 7 days a week. One Sunday we had a screw in a tire on the cart causing slow leak, took the cart to LSL location and they repaired on the spot - no charge. One example of great service from them.

We expect these 2 golf cars to last a longtime and have no plans to switch. Yamaha makes one of the best golf cars available and TVGCS is the best dealership,period.

Good experience to-date with a new 2011 Yamaha gas cart we bought over two years ago. Even though we're only in TV intermittently, we put a LOT of miles on it while we are there.

The only maintenance we've done is to change the oil per the manufacturer's recommendations/specs. It takes one quart - no oil filter on a Yamaha. I've taken an occasional look at the spark plug and the air filter as well - they're always fine and haven't needed any attention yet. I put fuel stabilizer in a full tank of fuel when we're going to be away from TV for extended periods of time to help keep the fuel from deteriorating. A battery maintainer (ex. Battery Tender) is used during those times as well. We've had zero problems with the cart.

I've also done other things such as checking tire pressures, alignment, rotating tires, etc. but those same things would apply to maintaining an electric cart as well.

We also saw this as a big investment and did a lot of research and shopping. Hats off to Yamaha gas carts but there are several people selling them. Do yourself a favor and go to Carts and Clubs in Ocala and compare what they offer in a Yamaha cart as opposed to anyone else you look at. Not only will you find their price competetive you will find their quality superior. And the little maintanance you might need they will come to your home and do in your driveway. We are coming up on one year and have had an oil change and the exhaust pipe reconnected (slipped off somehow). SHOP!!!

We bought a '96 Yamaha gas cart three years ago. Have had repair service twice costing about a total of $150. Put in new battery costing about $85.

Did oil change last fall - 1 quart. Cleaned spark plug and off we went.

We leave it for three month each summer, disconnect the battery and charge it when we get back and it starts up and goes. Get about one month of daily use on 5 gallons of regular gas.

My wife is talking about getting a second cart because we have to decide who gets the cart nearly every day. If we do it will be the best Yamaha Gas Cart $2,000 can buy.

We have purchased two gas carts from The Villages Cart Store. They just keeping running. First cart has over40,000 miles. Just had brakes repaired. The service offered by The Villages is the best. Gas every three or four weeks and keep going.

The Yamaha gas carts are great. Try looking at Carts and Clubs on 441 near Ocala. Worth the trip.
