Book: From Sun City to The Villages..
By Judith Ann Trolander.
Has anyone read this book? I have and found it rather dry but informative. There were some interesting historical facts revealed I did not know. I learned how various communities were developed and how over time developers who came along later learned from their predecessors. The Villages seems have incorporated the best ideas and topped them all. |
This book sounds interesting. Were they comparing the 2 places?

Lake, Sumter and Marion County Public libraries.
Libraries might have it and if they do not someone could recommend that they get this book.

I ordered the paperback from Amazon and am passing it around among my friends who either currently reside in or are considering moving to 55 and over communities. Like I said it was very informative although scholarly and dry. It will not be a best seller since it is far from an entertaining read. Nevertheless it contains significant information and historical backgrounds on several developments I had found nowhere else.
The paperback is only the cost of a decent bottle of wine. IMO if a person thinks knowledge is expensive try ignorance. |
The discussion regarding "casserole brigades" starting on page 216 was particularly informative to me.
