TV Disposal
Can anyone tell me how to dispose of a TV here in TV's? Is it OK to leave at the curb on trash day or does it need to be recycled somewhere. We live in Sumter County south of 466, north of 466A in the Villages (Poinciana).
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide... |
Sumter County has a recycling yard on Rolling Acres Road just past Tree Tops Golf. I do think you should be able to leave it with them.
They are open on tuesday and saturday. |
just put it out with ur trash and voila, in the morning it will be gone!

Best Buy was taking electronics for free. We dropped off a bunch of stuff with no problem at all.

I called Sumter County trash disposal and they picked up our large screen on another morning. They arrange schedule for large pickups separately.

We live in Marion County and had two of the monster sized TVs that weighted more than my wife. ... and much more cumbersome! They took the smaller one (32") and crushed it in the compactor. The driver gave me a phone number for the trash disposal company, (352) 748-0109, for pick-up. I called the number and they said to put it on the curb before 8 AM the next day and they'd pick it up. POOF - it disappeared.

If it works, put it to the curb with a large note saying "working tv". It will be gone before you go to bed. If it doesn't work, just leave it out and someone will probably grab it anyway. If it's not too large, the garbage guys will pick it up if no one beats them to their job. If it's a large one, call Sumter County Disposal and they'll pick it up.
