A Perplexingly Curious Circumstance for TOTV Super Techies
I have comcast internet and a cisco wireless modem.
When we use the microwave, the wirelss connection to our laptop is lost. When microwave is done, the wireless connection re-establishes. The above situation does not occur when either the iPhone or the iPad is linked to the wifi. The reason why is....? |
With the limited info you have provided in your post.... I will venture a guess.
Try changing the broadcast channel on your wireless access point and see if that makes a difference. Gordy |
Don't have a solution, but, I have noticed the same thing. When GE microwave is running old wifi Acer Netbook and now iPad wifi get very sluggish accessing the Internet. As soon as MW stops, speed returns to normal. Some type of interference no doubt. I tried at one time fiddling with router settings and channels but never solved it. Just don't cook and surf at the same time :-)
Me... Comcast, Dlink docsis 3.0 modem, and Dlink 655n series router. Will be interesting if anyone has found a fix... |
Sounds like you may have a leaking Microwave meaning radiation leak. If you have a small flourescent light bulb turn the microwave on and hold the bulb close to the M/W and if the bulb lights up dont use the M/W yeah I know that sounds crazy That could and that is a big could be the problem.

Wow! We have the same setup as the OP above. Just now tested it, and we have the same thing happen! Had no idea. Will be interested to follow this thread.

Excellent article on Radio Frequency (RF) Interference:
Like a noisy engine in the background of an audio recording, radio-frequency ¬interference is the result of a device ¬"listening" for one signal at a specific frequency and "hearing" another. The 2.4-GHz microwave overpowers the 2.4-GHz router and the laptop gets ¬confused. Preventing Radio-Frequency Interference - Wireless Bandwidth Spectrum - Popular Mechanics |
