Sandy turtle mound course
We played turtle mound the other day and was surprised to see all of the greens had been covered with sand. I guess they aerated them and put sand on them. Perhaps it makes it grow back nicely. Since we are fairly new to golf here we didn't expect to be playing in the dirt! I wish there was a way they could let golfers know when a course is being worked on. We will not play the course again until it gets back into shape. ( I do enough playing in the sand on the courses without the greens being all dirt). Does anyone know of any other courses like this?

Usually after the busy season they will areate the greens. Here they pull up tiny plugs of sand, in Ohio it is more like dirt.
Part and parcel of playing golf. Kinda like lovebugs.;) Here for awhile and then gone. |
Check out golf thevillages.com. There you'll find the aeration schedule for 2013.

The aeration schedule is also in the Daily Sun sports section on page B-2 in that green column that is there twice a week.
