Kudos to The Villages Hospital

I was admitted to The Villages Hospital recently to have a pacemaker implanted. I checked in through the Cath Lab where we were warmly greeted by the volunteer at the check-in desk. While we waited we were offered coffee and pastry but I was fasting for my procedure. I was called back to pre-op and was greeted by my nurse, Sharon who began to prep me. Shortly, I was greeted by the anestheiologist who had a great sense of humor. My doctor, Dr Omar Shams then arrived to review the procredure with me and my husband. Then Jon from St Jude's came in since he represented the pacemaker company. He described his role and advised me that he would be in surgery with Dr Shams while the pacemaker was implanted. I was then whisked into surgery with great care. Myia, the surgical assistant warmly greeted me as I entered the operating room.

I just described the first 2 hours of my time at the hospital. I was required to stay overnight and it was much of the same. My nurses, Linda and Peggy checked on me every 1 - 2 hours. My every need was anticipated. My tech, Amanda was a bright spot with her wide smile and caring spirit. If I ever need to be admitted to the hospital, I plan to use The Villages Hospital.

Thank you for putting the patient first.

I, too, have had good experiences at he Villages Hospital. One experience was to the ER. I also have had two surgeries. I was always treated very well and had good recoveries.

Thank you. You are right. They do put the patient first, often going above and beyond. Glad all went well for you and you are right back in the thick of things. Enjoy!:pepper2:

Another exceptionally good experience at TVRH's emergency room

While I don't doubt the awfully long waits of those seeking service in TVRH's emergency room--unfortunately common most everywhere in the U.S.--I've posted extensively in other threads what a positive experience I had in the ER following an accident when I was brought in by car and not by ambulance (for those who believe that those who arrive by ambulance get priority treatment). Why is it so difficult to understand the principle of triage?...

Amen and amen to ALL those who posted!!! I too have experienced the ER (brought in by automobile once and by ambulance once). Had surgery and a stay as well---I would also say "KUDOS"!!!

It's refreshing for me as well to hear positive things on this site.....for a change!!!

We have also had positive experiences in The Villages Hospital..both in the cardia suite where their expert and expeditious care prevented my huband from having any heart damage, and in the ED where Greg, a P.A., provided timely and very competent care. I think enough is not said about the good experiences, and I am sure there are plenty of them!

My husband had outpatient hernia surgery and we were both impressed with the efficiency of the hospital outpatient center. They started the surgery prep as soon as we arrived and we were able to leave shortly after the surgery. I had anticipated trying to find someone for discharge papers. The system of communication from the medical staff to family worked well. I was kept informed of when he went into surgery and into recovery. The doctor talked with me immediately following the surgery. And most important he had an excellent surgeon and quick recovery.

Thank you all for your well wishes as I continue on the road to recovery. Hopefully, none of you will need to go to the hospital anytime soon but if you do, at least you can rest easy...you will be in good hands.

Take a look at Medicares HospitalCompare website and you can see how poor their quality ratings are.
