reupholsters that are good
Anyone out there recommend a furniture reupholster. We have a sofa and a love seat that we would like to have recovered...
|
I make custom slipcovers. It is cheaper to buy new than reupholster.
|
what about slip covers? how do their cost compare to re-upholstery.
|
It all depends on the fabric you pick out. 100% cotton is best for slipcovers, not upholstery fabric. I live outside Boston and vacation in the Villages. Joanns has decent prices ONLY when they have a 50% sale, which is often. Holidays they usually have an additional 10 or 20% coupon, like this weekend. Sign up online for their flyer. HTH

I have a leather recliner that has a worn-all-way-through area on it. Pretty nasty. You think anything can be done for that? The chair is oversized (like me...6'-6"), so it's not that easy to replace.

There is an upholsterer located at 446A and Rt 25 in Fruitland Park, He has loads of samples and from what I saw in talking to him, he did good work and his prices were reasonable.

Jackie's Upholstery in Lady Lake. They did a club chair for me and their work was very good. I picked out the fabric on sale at Joann's. Just be sure you agree on which side of the fabric will be on the outside before they proceed.

phone # or location for Jackie's???

Reupholsterer
The one in Fruitland Park on 466A is called Lake Upholstery. I had them reupholster the cushions on my wicker lanai furniture and they turned out beautiful. I did what someone else suggested - I got the fabric from JoAnn on sale at 60% off, and I had a coupon for an additional 20% off.
But, I almost didn't have enough fabric because I didn't have them do the calculations of how much fabric to buy. So when you have them out to do an estimate, have them tell you how much to buy, and THEN buy the fabric. |
Great advice...and thanks to all.

Has anyone else used Jackies Upholstery? Can give me any input on them? Or, if you have any other good reupholster.

I recently used Aurora's Upholstery in Wildwood. She did a nice job on my dining room chairs. These chairs have box seats and therefore required cording around the top and bottom edges. She did a great job matching the stripes. I bought my fabric at JoAnn's when it was on sale with a coupon which was a good savings. Aurora charged me $40 per chair using my fabric. I would imagine her prices depend on the amount of work to be done, if additional stuffing is needed and fabric. I would use her again. Completion of work was supposed to be done in 2 weeks but my seats were done 5 days early. They are on Main St. in Wildwood. 352-348-1748.
