Yahala Bakery..Not That Great!

We decided to try out Yahala bakery and see what it was all about since I heard they have an outlet coming to Brownwood. Ya know...I wasn't impressed at all. I found their breads to be blah and actually a bit chewy. The desserts (pastries) were not good at all. Very tasteless and lacking of any flavor at all. They tasted old, too like they had been made a few days ago. Anyone else have an opinion?

Haven't been there for a couple of years, but back then everything was excellent!

We went there a month or so ago. I had a french-style apple tart that was beautiful to look at and very fresh and good. The place was packed and there was a wonderful, easy listening type guitar player in the garden.
I watched them working in the back as I was waiting my turn to select a pastry and saw that everything was continually being made. Nothing old THAT day.

Yesterday I purchased a very fresh loaf of their artisan bread at the Brownwood Farmer's market. ( one bread lady had a few loaves among her own products) Has to be a two pound loaf, with nuts, grains and seeds of all kinds- $5
I haven't tried it yet, but sliced it and have frozen it in parcels for future breakfast toast as it contains no preservatives. It looks really hearty and should be wonderful toasted.

Do they have a chart for nutritional information? One that gives the number of calories, fat and sugar for each item? Or is that just for restaurants?

Probably, you know what they say about opinions.

I'm thrilled to hear that there is a farmer's market. You always get the best stuff at one of those. $5 for an artisan loaf of bread isn't bad really. Hope you enjoy !!

We found them to be a very refreshing alternative to the super market bakery counters. Yes, their breads are different, and nutritous to boot. Oh, yes the baked goods are fresh and RICH. Worth the trip to find more than you would at Brownwood.
I give them a positive score.

I have been there many times over the last 7 yrs and never been disappointed.

Your profile says that you are a bakery manager in Wildwood. Don't you think it's kind of self serving to knock the competition on TOTV?

Maybe they have a different Baker or manager now. The cookies were under baked and the pastry was old..tasted like it had been refrigerated for too long. Now, that baker at Brownwood has EXCELLENT bread and you can't beat $5 a loaf. I bought her whole wheat bread 2 weeks ago..Very good!

Honestly?....who goes to a bakery and reads nutritional information?

I was a long time ago. Not anymore. Not self serving at all if I no longer do that. if anything, I have enough professional background to know when baked goods taste bad.

I guess bakery managers can't have an opinion. I just can't figure out why you dug up his profile. I think a bakery manager would be, well, a good judge of food,IMHO.:icon_bored::shrug:

We've been to Yahala bakery several times and have always enjoyed it. Breads and pastries always fresh.

I was curious to see how other people felt about the bakery so I googled them. They hold a four and a half to five star rating on all but one site. Not to mention the reviews.

One of the many write ups in the paper...

Orlando restaurant reviews: Yalaha Country Bakery restaurant review - Orlando Sentinel

The reviews blow most bakeries away....

Yalaha Bakery, Yalaha - Restaurant Reviews - TripAdvisor

Not everyone likes the same things.. *shrug*
