Lawnmowers

I am thinking of getting a new lawnmower. Too many choices........
Rear wheel drive/front wheel drive----Big rear wheels/small rear wheels
Briggs and Stratton/Koehler/Techumsa power.--- 20" cut or 21 or 22"...
Toro/Lawn Boy/etc, etc, etc.

What's a guy to do??:22yikes::blahblahblah::blahblahblah::D

You didn't say what size lawn you have, but you cannot go wrong with a HONDA. Gave mine up when I moved here as I now have CYV and stone. Available at Home Depot and is pretty much maintenance free and cranks every time. (IMPORTANT: Use Stabil fuel stabilizer in your gas can as ethanol breaks gas down quickly and will foul carb).

I don't think there is much difference in the wheel sizes as long as it is self propelled. Mine is front wheel drive which I like because I can tilt the handle down and raise the front wheels easily when I need to back up. As far as brand, that is a personal choice, just like cars! They will all cut grass and there are lemons in every make.

Mower

Go to Wildwood Mower & Saw, 106 E Gulf Atlantic Hwy (Hwy 44), Wildwood, FL 34785, Cross Streets: Between Legion St and SR-44/S Main St.

They are Toro dealers and can explain the features. Their self-propelled models are the best. You push the bar on the handle and it adjusts to your walk speed. I bought the middle 22" model 4 years ago and never had a problem with it. I take it there once a year for service.

I bought a 22" self-propelled mulching Lawn Boy, 15 years ago when we moved here. The cheapest one they made. The thing starts first pull, tires are worn out, but it just keeps running and running. I have a very large yard by most Villages standards. Never had a single problem.

I use a black & decker cordless electric 36 volt 19" mower. No issues or hassles at all. Easily handles cutting a designer yard; mulching option and simultaneous one-touch height adjustment for all four wheels are great features.

The self-propelled model number is SPCM 1936.

Another vote for front wheel drive. I bought a Honda 20 years ago and it was rear wheel drive. I cuss at it every time I mow, but I am to cheap to get rid of it when it is running so good.

I bought a Lawn Boy several years ago with an electric start and a Briggs and Stratton engine. Turn the key and it starts every time. I love that feature. You can pull start it too if you choose. I plug it into the charger once a season, and the battery lasts that long.

I have had good luck with Sears lawn mowers. They last a long time and Sears usually has a lawn equipment repair shop to service what they sell.

I agree. Plus they service what they sell for a reasonable price. Home town type of store.

Well, after a lot of research, I bought a Craftsman 22" self propelled with a Honda motor that was on sale. I was leaning towards another Toro, but the reviews were terrible. Sears reviews were very positive.
