BUCS Question

If the games are blacked out are you able to see them
Up in T.V.?

gmcneill 05-25-2013 10:03 PM

NFL blackout policy states that a home team's game that is not sold out prior to 72 hours before the scheduled start shall not be broadcast over terrestrial tv (i.e.: non-satellite providers) w/in a 75 mile radius.

And so the answer is?

The last year or so has not been good in this regard. Not sure of the exact number, but I recall only one or two home games being televised.

Prior to that, for many years, this was never an issue. Waiting list for season tix has gone, and it used to be over 100,00.

Winning is a sure cure for all of this.

Here's the Direcrtv info on it. If you have the NFL package on Direct, you can see parts of the game on the Red Zone channel but if it's blacked out locally it will be blacked on the Direct NFL package also.

DIRECTV What are the NFL SUNDAY TICKET blackout rules for my local team's home games?

John_W 05-26-2013 07:57 AM

I've had NFL Sunday Ticket for the past two years that I've lived in TV. I remember several Bucs games were blacked out last season here. On Directv NFL Game Mix the game would appear if it was one of the 8 shown, but when you flipped to say channel 703, it would be blank. Then when you switch to Fox 35 it wouldn't be on there either. That could also be bad news if your favorite team was the one playing the Bucs. That's also the same story with the Jaguars.

It sounds like it would be easier to drive to the game than try to figure out if it will be on TV. This will also show support for the Bucs.

No difficult things to figure.

If the game on Sunday is not 85 percent sold by Thursday noon (the 85 percent is news as of last year and is a club option..they can still hold to 100 percent sellout..the Bucs opted for the 85 last year and still came up short) the game will not be televised in this area.

Yep, tickets, including season are available. One of biggest problems, the pundits claim, are the prices, but I think Buc ownership has begun to really try hard.

If you go get tix on the west side because the sun is unbelievable on the other side for a 1pm game. Little break on the 4 pm games in the second half.

I know the home game rules.
I was simply asking if T.V. was OUTSIDE the blackout area.

Is it 75 miles from the stadium?
T.V. Is more then 75 miles from there.

Wanted to know if anyone could watch the game when blacked out?

Villages are served by the stations, for the most part, based in Orlando. It gets quite confusing how that blackout grows in many cases, The Villages has no network affiliated tv stations. There are some cities well outside the 75 mile range that will see no games without sell outs. Written with many words, but bottom line is they want people IN THE STADIUM.

No 85 percent sold....NO games to be seen in The Villages

THANK YOU for your intelligent answer!

The Orlando area (think TV) have the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tampa Bay Bucs as their in area teams, If the teams do not sell the required number of tickets we will not see them in the local area.

I have no idea where you can go to watch the Bucs when they do not sell enough tickets. Maybe the NFL package with DirecTV will allow you to see them but I do not know.

I could care less about the Jaguars but I would like to watch the Bucs.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!
We actually care because our dear SON is an avid BUCS fan but
lives in NYC.
We used to have SLINGBOX where he could watch our t.v.
And get all the games - until the entire season almost was
blacked out.
We were hoping that wouldn't be the case in T.V.
I guess he's out of luck!

We can only hope that they can put together a good team and get competitive again. A good QB would not hurt. Maybe Tebow would help. I hear he is available.
