Sealing Grout
 

Hi All,
I know I have seen forums of this topic before, but I apologize as I can not find anything current. We want to have our grout sealed. Floors and baths(s). I spoke to our original contractor and he indicates it is not necessary to do the walls in the baths, only the floors. This just seem incorrect to me from everything I have read.
Does anyone have a recommendation of who to use for grout sealing?

We have just moved into a new Lantana in Sanibel, and based on comments here, chose Pat More at Professional Carpet & Tile (352-516-3565). We are very pleased with his process and the results. Depending on your decor, be sure to ask about his colored acrylic sealers - they can really add a lot to the floor's appearance.

I'll show you how in 2 minutes, can't be simpler.

I would definitely do the walls in the shower. Our grout turned orange and nothing any cleaner could do would get rid of it. We were careful to squeegee the walls after showering, but it only got worse. We finally got rid of the tile and replaced it with corian type surface. No more problems. Except my dear spouse won't let anyone shower in the guest bath which still has tile.

FIRST, i WOULD DO ALL GROUT IN THE HOUSE. i HAVE GOTTEN MOLD ON THE SHOWER WALLS. SECOnDLY, it is so easy to do it yourself why hire someone. Get a lambswool applicator on a long pole and wet it with sealer. All it takes is to rub it over the grout and let it dry. We did a second coat. Both baths were done in under an hour counting drying time. Try to keep it mostly over the grout lines and it absorbs leaving les residue. After it has been sealed, clean it with water and vinegar fror 6 months. If the residue is excessive, buff wit a dry towel. To avoid getting mold we leave the fan in the bathroom running until the shower stall is dry. Good luck!

We also used Pat More at Professional Carpet and Tile. He did a great job! I used them on the initial cleaning of tile and sealing of all grout of a new home. Our tile didn't need to be sealed because it is non-porous. He gave us what he recommends to use when mopping tile floors. But be aware, as we were told, if your home is a new build and you have the grout sealed, and if needed, warranty work done on your grout, it would be voided because of the sealing. But what Pat uses does not change the color of the grout. I would call him for a price and what he recommends.
