Beware car ransacked

Our car was ransacked last night in our driveway in the Village of Mira Mesa, just off of Delmar. It was parked close to the garage and looks like we failed to lock it and they went through it and took what they wanted, we are on a dead end street with very little traffic so they went out of their way. Just wanted to let people know it happened and to be aware. Hope they enjoy what they took, and need it more than I did:)

So sorry to read this, not only taking what they wanted, but knowing that someone was rummaging around in your car - ugh. Unfortunately, you are so close to the main highway with so many ways in from 441. Have friends who live in that immediate area and they love it because they are so close to Avenida and the Square.

I'm so sorry.

Sorry to hear it happened. I learned a long time ago - always lock your doors. Whether you are going into a Quik-mart/7-11 or whatever. Don't give them a chance.

Isn't it amazing that the one time you forget to lock the car it gets ransacked? Makes you wonder how many times someone has tried it, found it locked, and moved on not wanting to create a disturbance by breaking a window.

We got in the habit of locking house and car all the time when we lived in CA. Still do it here out of habit. Sometimes I'll go out to the car in the garage to get something and find it locked!

Sorry this happened to you. Hope nothing irreplaceable was taken.

Sometimes I wonder if it is really best to lock your doors when I stop to think that it could have been worse by their breaking the window to get in. Personally, I would prefer to not keep anything of any value in the car for them to steal in the first place. Might possibly save the headache and expense of replacing a broken window.

Good point, but it probably is best to lock the doors and not keep anything of any value in the car. That way, when they don't see what they are looking for they will quickly move on to another target.

I grew up in an area where people didn't lock their doors and left their keys in their cars. I will admit that a lot of times when my truck's parked in the driveway the keys are right in it. Now I never leave it unlocked at night, but it's hard to get used to the "lockdown mentality". Such a shame that we have to.

Did they get anything

There's people on TOTV that think it's OK to just look the other way
when something like this happens. I wonder if you have neighbors like that.
