Respiratory supplies
 

Has anyone had good service from a respiratory supply company? My husband & I have dealt with Lincare for quite a while, but need to change since their service is awful.

Touchy subject!

In today's world, Medicare pretty much dictates whom you can use, since they have approved suppliers.

The days of a company providing you with personal attention are, sadly, pretty much gone! The small, local and customer-oriented firms are unable to stay in business due to Medicare payment declines!

That pretty much leaves you to deal with impersonal, though caring and professional suppliers.

That said, there are a number of suppliers in the area. In my experience over the last 7-8 years, they're all fairly equal albeit deficient!

The big guys are American Home Patient, Apria Healthcare, Lincare, Personal Pulmonary, Southern Respiratory, and a few others. Quite frankly, you must weigh your needs very carefully against what each firm will offer.

Should you wonder about my expertise: I am an at least 8-year patient requiring sleep apnea therapy (CPAP devices) as well as an on-going supporter of those who require supplemental oxygen in their daily lives - I am VP of The Villages Airheads, a support group for those dealing with COPD (emphysema and/or chronic bronchitis) and associated breating issues!
