Screen Front Enclosures - Recommendations

Purchased an Allamanda model Designer Home and am considering screen enclosing the front entrance. This would provide additional outside bug free seating and allows great cross ventilation with rear lanai door open simultaneously with front door........during cooler months.

Does this make sense? Any Contractor recommendation to screen enclose front is appreciated.

See how much time you actually spend out there before you screen it. And once you spent some time out there I think you will be surprised how few bugs we actually have in TV. I don't think they are allowed. There is always the option of an invisible screen door at the front entrance. Just an thought from someone who once thought the same thing.

Our neighbor had his screened. We opted not to have it done. I have my morning coffee out there and have never been bothered by bugs. I'm not sure which contractor did his but it looks fine.

We sit on our front porch a lot. It was surprising to us, so yes, see how much you use it. Also, we thought about screening, but it would confine our golden retriever to a smaller space. He loves to extend his tie line to sit on the front walk or top of driveway.

Good advise given so far. If you decide to go with the enclosure I'd recommend T&D Enclosures. We had them do ours several months ago and are completely satisfied with the job they did. Here's their website that have a photo gallery of enclosures:

Thanks to all for thoughtful responses..............as being a new Villager one has a tendency to want to address all at once........need to sit out front for a bit and experience before addressing. Thanks again.

Big Supporter of screening the front porch. We have a Lantana and did it for a very reasonable price. When the humidity is down, you can open teh front door and back sliding windows and have great cross ventilation. Although their may be few bugs they are there. Moreso we were getting mud wasps nesting in the porch area and that problem has gone away. The dog has a great view with the front door open...life could not be better.

One recommendation I would suggest you get a door with a 'piano" hinge on it..stronger door and less likely to get damaged with any wind. Also since the electric outlet plug is most likely in the screened area, see if the installer has a way to provide an opening to let you use that plug when you may need it say for Christmas lights or something similar where you dont want the front screen door always cracked open.

Alamanda Front Screen Enclosure

I also have an Alamanda in the village of Fernandina. I have enclosed the front with screening for the same reason. I used Kilcrease Construction. They were very prompt and the job was done to my satisfaction.

Update.....we chose Brian Terry and he did an outstanding job......this morning we have the front and back doors open and are enjoying a wonderful cross breeze through the house.

I recommend using Brian Terry.
