Your post won't link to anything. May want to re-try.

Interesting article...

The link does work, but I believe the site was down for a short time.

And aren't we all blessed to be part of this active, thriving community.

Sumter County has all the Ingredients necessary to attract jobs and now is the time to go after that large employer. I am surprised that Florida has not landed one of the automobile manufactures that have built in the south i.e. Honda, BMW etc. There will be a lot of unemployed construction workers by the build out of The Villages and Sumter County appears an ideal place to attract some manufacturing industries. Retail and Tourism are nice but jobs are going to be needed for the hundreds of unemployed construction workers and related occupations. Statistics show that manufacturing is returning to the U.S. and this area appears ideal IMHO.

Conversely, most of those unemployed construction workers are unskilled labor. Narrowly defined, single task construction jobs are all they are qualified for.

When I read this story the other day I had found the most interesting part was the realtor comment about having a contract pending on the 66 acre parcel on 466A across from the soon to be Pinellas Plaza. If I remember correctly that is the parcel that Wildwood had approved to be changed from agriculture to commercial with a mixture of stores, offices and a multi story assisted care facility. The reason I see this as interesting is that if this property does now get developed as planned it will have an affect on a number of TV homes that currently abut this property.

What happened to the Hospital planned for the Brownwood area ?

If they are going to build one of any size they need to gather the land now.

Does anyone know who was going to build it ?

A mayo clinic may fit in here.

The best part....

“Although Sumter remains primarily rural, the positive economic impact of The Villages impacts every Sumter resident and enterprise.”

Generations of "unskilled" laborers have gone to work in auto manufacturing plants because they wanted to work and earn a living, regardless of whether it is union or non-union.

They decided to add to the current hospital on 441. No hospital by Brownwood.
