Lithotripsy
Has anyone had this procedure done for removing kidney stones? My Dr wants to do this next Tuesday and I would like some "insider" info as to what I'm to expect afterwards. I know it's VERY costly and our insurance only pays for 85% so I'm debating whether to even have it. Does it actually help? Is the recovery period long?

easy and quick procedure...you are under anesthesia so there is no pain during the procedure...about 30 minutes to an hour..go home the same day..the stone ends up into little pieces.

Does anyone recall the cost to you? I called my insurance last night and we'd have to pay $15% of it.

sorry it would be free for us but if you call where you are going they should have a ball park..of course the procedure if it takes longer it would be more $$$ and so would the anesthesia, and there is no way to tell how long it will take...but if you are in pain its the only way to go

I had it done about 15 yrs ago..........stone was to large to pass...procedure was fast and painless....I would never hesitate to have it done again.....Its a piece of cake .....go do it .............

I agree..damn the cost...I have 3 medium sized ones in the left, one stuck somewhere in between and a 7mm in the right. Everyday is just a new adventure in uncomfortable.
I am told it no longer the sonic blasting but a laser now which means less bruising afterwards. I'm all for that! |
