King size bed suggestions

I know this issue has been addressed in the past but was wondering if there is any new options or opinions for purchasing a king size bed? Thanks for your help!

We had a king size bed in our first place, a Villa. When we sold and built a new place we opted for Queens in both bedrooms. Reasons, other that cost of bed linens, and covers, pillows, etc, was because it was so hard to change sheets! That mattress weighed a ton, it seemed like. By going with Queen size bed, easier on the back to change, not as costly to outfit, and the bonus was, since the bed was smaller in width, we picked up about another 18 inches in room size, more than enough to add another nightstand with ample room for it.
Also, if you look at your sleep pattern, each of you sleep pretty much on one side, and nothing in the wide expanse of the middle.

We did the opposite and went from a queen to a king when we moved here

We will never give up our king even if we have to use a forklift to change the sheets. Our mattress has lifting straps on each side, and I lift the mattress up and prop it on my knee to fit the sheet onto the corners.

We like that when one of us gets up in the middle of the night and lies back down, the other one is not jostled.

We have a king size bed but have opted for 2 x-long twin beds that fit nicely into the poster bed frame. They are adjustable beds so that we can each sleep with head up, feet up, etc. Not so bad changing the sheets as we use separate fitted sheets and a king top sheet.

LOL, forklift, good visual. We feel the same way about our king beds. We love them. It's Fireboy's job to change the sheets. If he isn't around, I find the larger sheets for pillow-top mattresses make linen changes much easier.

Kings in both bedrooms - twin mattresses on both beds - no problem.

Very clever, Mac,,, but I'm not surprised. I may do that again if I get another King size. I do miss the extra room (my dogs take up 90% of the queen bed.)

Having just been through the task of buying a king size mattress I have a few suggestions. Stay with the plush mattress instead of the pillowtop. Unless you go with the really high end mattresses they tend to roll to the middle after a while. The plush, while still soft a little firmer underneath and don't roll so much. I would both lay on the mattress in the store. Curl up like you normally sleep, roll over, etc. Also bounce on the bed and sit on the side of the bed. All of those things matter. I spent about $1100 on my mattress and am happy with it. It's a beautyrest. I did have a problem with an Englander queen that had to be returned because it rolled to the middle.

Yes, I wish we had done this too. My hubbie and I have different needs in mattresses as we get older....We are making do with a regular king mattress with a foam topper.
but twin mattresses would have made more sense.

Jnieman, Do you mind if I ask where you purchased it?
