Loss Of Internet

This is a Problem I run into occasionally. I have researched it and can find no answers and it Is bugging me. At the bottom right is an internet icon with a white triangle. This means you are good to go. When you lose the internet it turns yellow.

Q1: What causes it to turn yellow?

Q2: Usually a reboot will reestablish the connection. Is there any other way to reestablish the connection? Is there a DOS command or something?

PMs are fine.

Thanks,
Z

In short.. the answer is; It Depends.

Are you connected via Wifi or a physical cable?

Physical cable. The laptop which is connected via WiFi from the same modem still works.

I get that too from time to time (every 4-6 weeks).

I reboot the modem.

'works for me'

I have done the reboot also. But I still need to reboot the PC to get the yellow triangle to go away.

I cannot seem to find anyone that can tell me why I am getting the yellow triangle.

I am also working on a neighbor's problem. He got a new modem when Comcast installed their telephone combo and he got the yellow triangle yesterday. I could get it to go white but it went back to yellow before I could get to the internet. Without knowing what is causing the PC to lose the connection I am at a loss.

When I get that I usually disconnect and then re-connect.

Sometimes this works. If not - re-booting usually does the trick.

Could still be the router. Or the modem.

To narrow it down, try just rebooting one of the two, and see what happens. Not just turn it off, but disconnect the power, either at the wall or the unit itself. Next time you lose the connection, reboot JUST wi-fi router, see if it works again. If not, THEN reboot the modem. Next time it dies, reverse that process, see at what point it starts working (remember to leave each unit unplugged for at least 30 seconds, and allow 2-3 minutes for it to fully come back up before giving up on that stage).

I have no router. It is an all in one modem/Wi-Fi router/telephone connector. Anyway, this also happened when I had a modem/router configuration.

However, I will try that if I get a call with this problem that has that configuration.

Thanks;

How about updating or reinstalling your wireless driver in your computer?

You should not have to reboot everytime this occurs. Try placing your cursor on the triangle and right click the mouse. Select Diagnose and Repair, then proceed. This should let you know what's the problem and fix. Hope this helps.
