This seems goofy to me

Can anyone explain to me what is really being said in this news article ??? Today, in the Daily Sun there is a leadline that states " Man found dead in car at church being treated as traffic homicide. The man was 94 years old and the story concludes as follows, The safety department said they believe the car accident WAS LIKELY CAUSED BY A MEDICAL CONDITION. So what's the homicide, will the tree the car crashed into be charged or what ??? The dictionary defines homicide as being; one who kills, manslaughter....Maybe just goofy news reporting..

I thought the same thing. Who killed the poor man?

Oh, a tree?? Really??

As I read it I expected to see something like someone forced the driver off the road but it was not in the article.

Oh Well

asianthree 07-03-2013 09:16 PM

the tree is pleading the fifth

sharonga 07-03-2013 09:17 PM

Maybe they think someone hit him and made him go off the road. Did not make sense to me either.

I talked to someone that wrote articles for The Daily Sun a few years ago. He said that he wrote the articles and then someone else would be assigned to give it a headline. He was always so annoyed about this because the person would skim his article and make up a title that sometimes didn't make any sense at all.
Maybe that's what happened here.

First, I offer my sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of the driver on the loss of their loved one.

Regarding the article...
I inferred that the driver had a sudden medical condition that caused him to lose control of his vehicle, and veer off of the road into the tree. His unfortunate passing wasn't caused by the actual medical condition itself but by trauma that resulted from impacting the tree.

Maybe it's being treated as a homicide because they have not determined the cause of death. The article said that an autopsy was pending. In the meantime, they treat it as a homicide.

Happens at all newspapers. Used to happen to me when I wrote for one.

I agree with your kind thought.

It was a misleading headline.

It appears he was heading to early Mass. I am sure he went swiftly to Paradise

one learns soon enough that the Daily Sun does not have a spell check nor does anybody edit "goofy" or the non senible.
stuff.

Trees kill a lot of people in this country. They should all be registered with the federal government or banned outright.
