Happy 4th of July!

I didn't exactly give a stellar performance, but I did pass - phew. Guess those years in school early on did actually sink in.

I passed! I can stay.

19 of 20. Went back and forth between 23 and 27 amendments and picked wrong.

19 out of 20 for me. My degree in Political Science did pay off. Thank you Loyola University.

I got 19 out of 20 because I rushed. I answered that the first words of the constitution are When in the course of human events. Those of course are the first words of the Declaration of Independence. I just didn't take my time and read the question.

Geesh I got 17 correct and felt okay about that. You folks did far better than I did.

I passed it 3 yrsago when I became a US citizen. I studied hard for 6 mns because I was determined to pass it the 1st time :)

I missed the 2 questions on the ammendments....

When I took the citizenship test in 1975 it was a thousand times easier.
I remember thinking at the time, how easy it was...i was a junior in high school, with American history fresh in my mind. The questions i remember:
Say your name and age in English
Who is the president and vice president of the USA?
How many states in the union, and a few others. A piece of cake.
But my poor Cuban aunt, whose English was negligible at the time, had a hard time.
The tester asked her in English, of course, how many children did she have. and my aunt thought he asked how many yrs have u been married, and she said 21. ! she still passed the test.
Things have changed, of course.

Several of the school districts in the northwest suburbs of Chicago offer citizenship classes for those people who are preparing to take the citizenship test, and the classes always fill up.

I wonder how many high school seniors could pass this test?

I wonder whether knowing these factoids of American History have any relationship to what should be the more central purpose of granting or refusing US Citizenship. Please note that the online test you are seeing is not the way prospective new citizens are tested. They are given the questions orally and are NOT given the multiple choice possibilities but must answer with no choices given. So those of you who got so many correct, how would you have done if you only heard the questions and had to come up with the answer as a fill in the blank? The examiner selects 10 questions and you must get 6 correct. I cannot find any rule on how the questions are selected, random number generation or can the examiner pick the questions s/he likes which obviously would seem unfair as there are very easy and very tough ones.

I ain't giving them my name. I probably talking to the NSA and if I flunked they try and deport me to Italy:D
