Is your pet licensed? It is the Sumter County Law
A friend of ours was bitten by a dog yesterday while walking on the sidewalk here in The Villages. Dog was on a leash but obviously not being controlled.
A Sumter County Sheriff Deputy came to the seen and stated that the dog owner would be fined $300.00 for not having a Sumter County pet license. I wonder how many pet owners in Sumter County have a pet license for their pets. My guess is that very few do. Am I wrong? Link to Sumter County site is below. I thought the Vet did it when you get your shots, am I wrong?

Both my fur kids are licensed. Yes, they do give you a tag. Patty I think the vet gives you a rabies tag.

Yep, our pup is licensed. The vet can issue the license when you get the shots.

Checked my latest Vet bill, it was only $5.

It would be better to spend the $5.00 and save yourself a $300 fine. |
I'm curious to know how this situation evolved. A leashed dog biting someone is unusual. Did the man have a dog also? Thanks.
