Talk of The Villages Florida - The American Cancer Society needs Volunteers for Study at TVHS

The American Cancer Society needs people living and working in and around The Villages to participate in an important cancer prevention study. Participants should be between ages 30 and 65 and never been diagnosed with cancer.

Participation does require scheduling an appointment for the study, Wednesday, July 17, 2013 between 1 - 7PM. Enrollment for the study takes between 15-20 minutes. Applicants must sign a consent form, complete a brief survey, have their waist measured and give a small sample of blood.

CPS3 seeks to better understand the lifestyle, environmentla and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer. Past studies have shown the direct link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer, the link between larger waist size and increased death rates from cancer and the impact of air pollution on heart and lung conditions.
