yep few years ago i put wallpaper on the largest bedroom wall..putting in new carpet. and thought its time to take down the wall paper..top layer came off with no problem..now what home remedy to take off the rest without gouging the wall...:(....

use white vinager and hot water..let it soak in and it will come off ..unless you didn't prep the wall before putting the paper up?

We just removed wallpaper from 3 rooms here in PA. We used stuff at Lowes, used the Piranha scoring tool first then the Piranha spray on remover, worked really well, still a lot of work though.

Ummmm if it were me ------- I'd be hiring someone to take care of this. It's a super messy job and well worth the price of having a pro do it.

I think you should take it off yourself...because if you gouge the wall you will have to call a drywaller to resurface it.

Ask how I know.

always used the vinegar & water in a spray bottle. A soaked sponge does help. You need to dampen the backing enough for it to gently pull away from the wall. It's a tedious job but surely one that can be accomplished!

A clothing steamer - no chemicals - no shredded pieces
Alternately a wall paper steamer from a rental store.

I got paper down very fast with only my clothing steamer. There was no wall board damage.

Back in the day...tried the vinegar/water thing and it didn't work for whatever reason. Ended up renting a steamer and that worked great!

You made a HUGE mistake to wallpaper. The walls in TV are all painted with flat paint. If you wanted to wallpaper you should have painted the walls with at least eggshell first. You will ruin the walls removing it yourself. Have a professional come in to give you advice and an estimate.

Once the top layer is off you may not need to score it much. I used a rented steamer with limited result. Then I tried my husband's garden sprayer with just warm water and it came right off. No damage from scraping. Our walls were painted underneath and not directly on the drywall.
