Dr. Bose dies at the age of 83

We lost a great man today. For anyone who has ever enjoyed Bose products, this is the man who was behind the technology.

I do like his stuff.

The good Dr pioneered many technological innovations in the industry. I have enjoyed them for many years.

I have used a pair of 301's on my stereo for decades (like 3) .... have Acoustimass 5's on the living room TV/DVD .... a Solo TV Sound System on the bedroom TV/DVD .... a Wave III (with Ipod dock) in the garage over the work bench ... and a SoundDock Portable (with Ipod dock) for travel

Guess you could say I like Bose products ..... except for their earbuds, don't like their earbuds for the price.

I like his noise canceling headphones. Better noise canceller then earmuffs when mowing lawn, good when working near computers and on airplanes.

R.I.P.

I liked some of his stuff but thought most of it was overpriced probably due to a huge advertising budget trying to stimulate demand.

I can tell you for certain, although I will not argue that some items may or may not be overpriced, it is definately NOT due to an over abundance of advertising. I know people in sales and marketing and the company compared to others inthe industry does not support those areas much. They pump the money back into research and development. They see themselves as a research company, not a speaker/headphones company. Until in recent years, the only advertising on TV anyone saw was a Herbie Hancock infomercial.

Word of mouth is always the best was to stimulate demand.

They heavily advertised in print and I still think most of their stuff is overpriced.
