Anybody want to guess how long it will take for this current round of racism to die down?

All one has to do is check out who the media is constantly shoving a camera in front of and what they have to say. A sterling example? Super racist Al Sharpton.

The media has one purpose to generate interest/hyseria where it suits their personal agenda. Singling out items of interest to their contributors....special interest groups, politicians, hollywood.....or anybody they think will inspire the gullible or blindly obedient follower audience.

I for one am sick and tired of the racism promoting that is bound and determined to regress this nation back 50 years......TO SERVE SPECIAL INTEREST PURPOSES. It is so offensively obvious and the silent majority just let's the drum beat go on.

Must be NIMBY(not in my back yard)-osis!!!

Amen to that! Just read some of the news blogs and you will see more than enough evidence of that.

Look at how Paula Deen has been treated for something that was totally accepted many years ago. Her 'transgression' occurred then. What she said was not always used as derogatory then but as a descriptor, just as African-American is today. As far as I'm concerned, I think her sponsors should stand behind her, not dump her.

Many of today's ills could be taken care of very simply. Get rid of "Politically Correct".

That is not or was not anything I implied or said or intended to say. While I believe others can have their own opinion on a subject they are not entitled to make an inference of what another is "thinking"......your inference is incorrect!!

The point that was missed, intentionally or otherwise was who and why racism is currently being stoked.

The race cards currently being played by politicians, activists, hollywood, NAACP or special interest folks has little to do with the status of equality or violation of it within their particular race.

And that is my entitled opinion, right, wrong, or if different than anybody elses!!

The juror last night on CNN Anderson Cooper was asked, Did the jurors think it was a racial profiling issue? She said it wasn't even dicussed. I hope everyone listens to the interview, Part 2 will be on CNN/AC's show tonight. Very revealing and they got it right. :-)

This discussion will go on for generations, as well it should, or until there is liberty and equal justice for all under the law. The people seen marching are the young people, African Americans, hispanics, and women who will decide when their objectives have been met and there is equality for all.

Perhaps you could give some specific examples. I only see heartbroken people trying to make sense of a horrific situation.

I suspect hesitant people are remaining silent.

It was a death and a tragedy to the families. It has been made into a racial issue by a lot of folks who should have remained quiet.

I am not a liberal, neither am I a conservative but I tend to the moderate right. I know what I think and I am appalled by what is happening.

I tend toward evaluating things by the scientific method and not leaping into things. There are problems with society that can only be fixed if each takes care of his own to the fullest extent of his ability. We aren't all born with the same ability to think things through, to care for ourselves and to make the best judgments on important issues. Anger is festering and it is a very dangerous thing.

As we age the issue of right and wrong SHOULD become gray a little. We know more, we question what we have been taught and get to the bottom line a little quicker. But we should still try to be fair and encourage independent living in each person in our society. Some of us can't take care of all of us. It just doesn't work, even if we think it is right.

I am happy for every day I am not assaulted by one minority or another for what we have done and continue to do to them. This problem is getting better every day, just very slow. As us old f$(/s die off it does get better

No, that is not what I meant at all, nor did I think I implied that. If I did, then I apologize. Today, if she uttered those words, it would be meant as derogatory and slurs should never be tolerated about anyone. Back then, it was not a slur. When I was growing up in Texas in the 40's and 50's, that's how they were identified. Nothing anymore derogatory than other descriptors for them or us.

People cannot pick and choose the parts of history they like. History is just what it says it is....history. That was common language back then and as such just cannot be erased. Slavery was a way of life and that is a fact and part of history that cannot be undone or pretend that it never existed.

There was a time when women could not vote, could not sit at a bar (CT changed that one in the 70's), and on goes the list. African-Americans could not play Augusta. Just because they can now does not alter the fact that change had to occur. So it is with language and I believe Deen when she says that she no longer uses it and finds it no longer acceptable because of change.

As for all the PC crapola, please don't tell me that I can no longer say "Merry Christmas" because someone "might" be offended. I am offended when people put down my religion. I have that right; just not the right to force my way onto others because I like it and they don't. If they don't want to say it, but instead say "Happy Holidays", then that is their CHOICE and I would never tell them that they can't because it is or is not politically correct.
