Garage Floor
We recently had the driveway and garage floor painted (it looks beautiful) and I can see that my electric cart has dripped some acid on the floor. We didn't refill the battery water since it was painted but somehow it dripped. What can I put under the cart that would prevent this problem. Is there some sort of pan that goes under the cart? Would an enclosed battery system prevent this from happening? Thanks

I put a mat under my wife's electric cart.I think what happens is when it rains & the cart gets wet when you pull it into the garage it drip dries leaving stains from the battery compartment.

I have a mat under my gas cart to protect the floor.

Villages golf cars sells a mat just the right size.

I put a left over piece of indoor/outdoor carpeting under mine.

sometimes, with some chargers they will give off more gas and some of it condenses and can accumulate enough to create a trickle to the floor.
I have a large hemp like door mat under mine. Absorbent and does not react with the floor. btk |
Town & Country
Town & Country Golf Carts in SS sells a hard plastic black grid floor protector ($70) that you drive on. For whatever reason, battery acid does not dry up like ordinary water. It just sits there in the grid mat until you take it outside and hose it off. I was surprised by the price, but it has protected our epoxy garage floor for 4 years. I try hard not to overfill the batteries but in spite of my best efforts, I still see occasional spillage. The other item that does not interact well with epoxy is Simple Green. If you wash your epoxy floor, don't use it.

Why not fill your batteries in the street.

Many auto suppliers sell drip pans that are made of galvanized metal. They are usually 1 inch deep and come in various sizes.

Good ole electric carts next there will be stains on your newly painted drive way.
No mat for that also if your cart does leak while visiting friends park in the road. Or they won't be happy I couldn't get rid of mine fast enough |
WE have a couple of spots on our driveway that appear to be from battery acid. We have a gas cart, but we have friends that have electric and sometimes they have come by to pick one of us up for golf or pickleball. We don't have our driveway painted yet, so it's not such a big deal........yet.
