Charleston, South Carolina

We will be going to charleston, SC the end of Sept. and would like to know if anybody could recommend some sites that you feel we should make a trip to see. It is our first time going and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Especially some nice tours and restaurants, We are staying a the center of the downtown/riverview area.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Feel free to leave a private message if you so desire.

If anybody is planning to go, maybe we can go together. It is always more fun with another couple. Just let me know. I'm sure we will have a great time and always nice to meet new friendsl

Do a carriage narrated historic tour of charleston.
We have done it in winter, great weather
Never been there in sept
We always stay at the ocean front villas in Wild Dunes resort

Enjoy! We almost retired there instead of the villages

Go to the visitors bureau first. Take one of the tours recommended. Have a great time in this beautiful city.

Go to the downtown open air market. Be sure to hit Bulldog Tours and take a ghost tour of the Old Provost Dungeon. I got an AMAZING ghost picture there!

Consider Mr. Brown's Gullah Tour. It was the highlight of our trip

Do the carriage ride, walk the streets, go to the Market. Drayton Hall is out side of Charleston but not far. Really worth seeing. Also Middleton Plantation and Boone Hall all in the area of Charleston. St. Michaels church and the grave yard. It is very old just like the rest of Charleston. The Battery has a marker for our soliders that were killed during Korean War when two American ships collided during manuevers. The one ship was stationed at Charleston. I know this because my husbands brother was lost on the Hobson.

2 votes for the Hominy Grill. I believe it is on Rutlege. Shrimp and grits......the best....and for breakfast!

This casual tavern refers to itself as "Charleston's Best Pub." A pretty accurate measure, we'd say. The ambiance and food may suggest a traditional British pub, but the heart of the Griffon is old-fashioned Southern cuisine. The collards are heavenly, and the fried pickles are worth trying. Regulars love the affordable daily blue plate specials like the perfectly seasoned Southern-fried pork chops, the thick meatloaf, and the crispy fried chicken. For drinking, beer enthusiasts can choose from a wide range of craft-brewed ales, lagers, and ciders on tap, making this a must-stop on your next beer tour. —T. Ballard Lesemann
