Tax free today?
 
I went to the book store and bought a book. I expected it to be tax free but it wasn't. The clerk said she hadn't heard of books being tax free. And she didn't think it came under the heading of "school supplies".

Was she right or just uninformed?

Only certain items are tax free. Maybe books have to non fiction?

She's correct. Books are not tax free. Here's a link to what is and isn't.

I really don't understand the rational. Books are not tax free but I bought a book reader (Nook HD+) at B&N today for my spouse and that was tax free. Go figure...
