Philadelphia cheesesteak
Anybody know where to get a good cheesesteak?
|
Chi's Grill in La Plaza Grande. By far the best in the Villages.
|
You have to try the vanilla bean cheesecake at TGIF's. It's outstanding!
|
Toooooo funny! Ron said Cheesesteak NOT Cheesecake.
|
Hahahah, I was quick to pull the trigger on the vanilla bean. I may need another cup of coffee :-)

Tony Lukes. Had one last week while in the area

Hollywood Cafe on Main Street in Wildwood has a great Philly cheesesteak. They even have Amoroso rolls!
|
Another vote for Chi's. I know it's not traditional, but he puts some aioli mayo on mine and its fantastic! I think the guy who owns it used to be head chef for the Miami Dolphins organization.

1. there are no good philadelphia cheesesteaks anyplace other than philadelphia.
2. you can make your own. you must have a great roll, and that is either Amoroso's or Morabito's. Neither is available in Florida, so you will have to have a friend bring you some back when they travel to Pennsylvania. 3. the best meat that you can use is shaved steak, available at SweetBay. yellow onions, carmelized. never raw onions and never red onions. 4. the only cheese that you can use is Cheese Whiz. no, you cannot top it with provolone or swiss. 5. there has to be a certain amount of grease. sorry, but low cholesterol is not part of the allure. 6. if you must, you may add some very thick marinara-type sauce on it. just enough to moisten. not ketchup. |
Sounds just like the one I get at Chi's!
