Least expensive Mac Laptop

Love my iPad. Now considering a Mac Laptop. Any suggestions from you Mac users for something not too expensive that does the basics?

I looked last weekend......tired of waiting half hour for PC to go through all the virus and spyware checks. My question is Apple is coming out with new IOS for the phone and pad in September and wonder will that affect desktop Mac.

Check out the new MacBook Air... Relatively inexpensive for a Mac.

The operational system on the iPad or iphone is not the same OS on the Mac. The devices will have a new OS called iOS7. The Mac will have a new operation system called OS 10.9 codenamed Mavericks. The Mac OS upgrade will probably be $20. The iOS upgrades for the iPad and iphone are free.

Look for a MacBook Air refurb and save some $$$. All of these models have SSD drives which are smaller than the older hard drives and no internal optical drive for writing cds and dvds. Also the amount of RAM is not upgradeable.

I bought my pre-owned 17" MacBook Pro from this place 3-4 years ago and have had no problems:
Used Refurbished Cheap Apple - Gainsaver

I just have a 13" macbook in an aluminum case and love it. I have never had any problems with it and it starts immediately unlike windows based junk. Just don't overbuy an apple notebook. They are all great.

Never heard of Gainsaver. Are they reputable?

Well they've managed to stay around for quite a number of years. Here are some reviews:

I think you take a chance with any product you purchase that has been refurbished. It was already broken once.

That's true, although some refurbished units are just ones people have returned or exchanged for other reasons besides defects. You have to decide if what you save is worth a shorter warranty if there is a problem.
I've had good luck with buying used & refurb units from various places like NewEgg, Amazon.

I love my 11 " mac book air. It is so light weight. intuitive to use , (most of the time)
We have a Mac mini at home for our home computer. It is about the size of a large paperback book. No more "tower".
My hubby loves his ipad, although I did buy one and found it limiting as it does not do "flash". Traded it in for my beloved Mac Book Air.
Once you go "MAC" you will never go back!!! Light years ahead of PCs. And the customer service can't be beat!
