SnowFlake vs Year Round Turtle

When we were visiting the Villages and making plans to move down there, several people asked us if we were going to be "SnowFlakes" ?? We had heard of "SnowBirds" but the other title threw us. The "Turtle" title we heard last March on our last visit.

Then we were standing in line waiting for a table at one of the restaurants, someone behind us said "I can't wait until "THEY" go back to their permanent homes so we don't have to wait in long lines everywhere"!

Is there a [b]US vs THEM [b] going on in the Villages?

I, personnaly, don't have an "us vs them" attitude. I really have made some wonderful friends that only rent for 3 months in the high season.

We do alter our time schedule during Jan-March. We add 5-10 min on our traveling time. Going out to eat is less during that time simply because there are a lot more people during that time.

As we all know, there are those that are territorial. always have been..always will be. There will always be those that dislike the more crowded time of the year.

I grew up in a resort town. It was always nice to get our town back after summer, and winter. We did not disuade those that came. They generated a lot of needed revenue. As is the case here in the Villages during high season.

The Villages has something for everyone, even things to complain about if one is inclined to do so. I look on the brighter side of things. It is a lot less stressful.

Yes, there does seem to be an "us vs. them" situation going on for some Villagers. I don't quite understand the rationale. Afterall, we snowflakes pay the bills 12 months a year, and only live there 5-6 months, so the year round people are really reaping the benefits in my opinion. I've even run into it on a personal level - you're making friends with someone, and they seem friendly at first, then when they find out you're not year round, they act like its not worth their while getting to know you. Of course, everyone isn't like that. I spend my time with the more "enlightened" folks.
