Syria

Ok...even though it has been happening for a year or more, CNN is now broadcasting actual film of a chemical weapon attack in Syria, where the massacre of people has been continuing and ongoing.

Redline has been crossed...many times. Now that we can see it..what now ?

"Activists and rebel fighters accused Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces of killing hundreds of civilians - including many women and children - in chemical weapons attacks on Wednesday.

Video clips apparently showing the graphic and disturbing aftermath of the alleged attacks on the rebel-held eastern Damascus suburb of Ghouta were posted to social media but could not be independently verified. The clips showed children choking and vomiting, while adults writhed in agony.

If confirmed, it would be by far the worst known use of poison gas during the country’s deadly civil war, which has claimed more than 100,000 lives."

UN to meet over reports of hundreds killed in Syria chemicals weapons attacks - World News

The whole of the Middle East is in turmoil, and all I can think of is the needless loss of American Lives - Sons, Fathers, Husbands - and for this!

Just more propaganda to ready the population to support another "war". The same playbook they used for Iraq.

REALLY - you think this killing is propaganda to support a war? A war for what purpose?

Wow.....do a search for Syria videos, watch the unedited and the ones our media not showing and then get back to us. Now I don't know who's responsible for the killing, I do know innocent children are dying right there in front of your eyes and that loss of innocence is disturbing to me no matter which side they're on.

Tonight about six on CNN there was film of children dying and water being poured over them to get rid of the poison and then row after row of their small dead bodies wrapped in white palls.

It was heartbreaking. Heartbreaking. What is this world coming to?

So you are saying these people did not die....you are saying these children did not suffer unthinkable suffering before dying.....you are saying this was staged....you are saying that line was not stepped over ?

Quite strong allegations about our government and I am sure you will post to allow us how you came on this knowledge ?

Bucco 08-22-2013 06:56 PM

As civilized nations try to confirm an almost certain poison gas attack by Assad, this has the makings of a very sensitive, at best, situation.

France was first to call for intervention, and keep in mind the allies of the Syria government who number Russia, Iran, Hezbollah, and Saudi Arabia has promised financial assistance.

We may think this is a long way from us. I tell you this world is so small today, should this come outside the Syrian borders, with Al Queda posed to intervene. Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt comes into play.

So many people come on here and say the do not want to lives cared.....I agree, but stay informed on this Middle East. It is a tinderbox.

NotGolfer 08-22-2013 07:52 PM

It was on CBS news at 6:30 last night and again on CNN today! I couldn't watch it the 1st time but could hear the descriptions of the people (ALL ages) in various stages of dying. It didn't sound pretty! NOT propaganda, I would say! Big sigh!

buggyone 08-22-2013 08:26 PM

Terrible thing, of course. However, it would be a big mistake for US forces to become involved.

billethkid 08-22-2013 10:41 PM

It has been stated by our government "we don't take sides"!

Wasn't the full statement something like, "we don't take sides, but the use of chemical weapons would be a situation of a red line being crossed."

I for one am happy that we took sides against the Nazis in WWII.

I'm not saying that we should go into Syria, but I don't think that we can just make a blanket statement that we never take sides.

However any of us feel about this, I think that we will soon see American troops, leading UN forces, on the ground over there. I really don't see how the rest of the world can continue to sit back and do nothing about this.

gomoho 08-23-2013 07:37 AM

What are our options???
