Jet d'Eau - Saddlebrook Golf Course Fountain

Does anyone know what has happened to the plume of water that used to spout out of a lake on the golf course across 466 from Laurel Manor rec. center?

I last saw it in operation over a year ago.

There must be plenty of water, so is it just another "cut back"?

DonH57 08-24-2013 01:53 PM

Nah.... They fixed the leak. :)

sigh

They shut off both the Saddlebrook and Hawke's Bay fountains. Such a shame. The spray always felt good on a hot afternoon of golf.

But no, I do not know why.

Both of those lakes have a lot of seasonal bird visitors. Pelicans and Flamingoes for two. Could be that has something to do with it?

Unless the rise of water in all of the ponds in the last week has been the cause?

We have all the stuff to build an ark if this continues.

I considered the one by Laurel Manor to be a great advert for The Villages for anyone driving along 466 - considerably more class than the sad trickles of water you see outside most developments

Jet d'Eau

Wow, after a little :024: I have learned the meaning of a new word!

Thanks AF for opening another door for me. Allow me to send a most respectful :bigbow: your way.

Proves a person is never too old to learn something new.

Don

PS....And now that I better understand what you were asking about, I don't have a clue why the Jet d'Eau(s) are not spouting off. But I agree with others who want them back.

PPS.... However the Jet d'Eau(s) still seem to be pretty active on TOTV. :icon_wink: :)

Ah, memories. Lac Léman, sometimes Lac de Genève, home of the jet d'eau.

always a good trivia question - which body of water connects Lac Leman with Lake Geneva :-)

Thought they were one in the same. There's always a debate over which is the "proper" name for Lac Leman/Genève. But we refer to the lake upon which the city Genève sits, with the jet d'eau in the harbor, as Lac Genève or Lake Geneva.

However, my husband grew up in Genève, and they called it Lac Leman. I think there is a little bit of Fringlish that goes on in our family.

In any event, I hope TV's jets d'eau are turned back on soon. My guess is there is some seasonal/ecological reason for their being off.

I thought Jet d'Eau was that martial artist turned actor who played the villain in Lethal Weapon 4

Indeed they are - but those who don't know that can come up with some pretty interesting river and canal suggestions
