Halloween

Is there Trick or Treating in TV. Being the grumpy old man that I am I have my fingers crossed for No

asianthree 08-28-2013 07:57 PM

no but there is usually a church you can take your cart and bring candy for the treaters...so no worries for you

Thanks. I have actually done that before...not in a cart..yet. We live in a litigious society, and I have never been comfortable with a steady stream of youngsters coming onto my property at night.....never really got my lawn smoothed out after Katrina took down twenty two pines in my front yard.

Do people still decorate the outside?

When we first moved here, I doubted we would see kids, but I wondered if anyone would trick or cocktail. I was thinking neighbors would be out like zombies with glass in hand looking for some "candy" :beer3:. No one came....

This hardly qualifies as decorating, but I did finally get to use a 'what he thought was funny' Christmas gift from my brother in law.

No trick or treating but I've heard that Brownwood is gonna be turned into a haunted town for Halloween with Halloween performances on the 30th and 31st.

Not to derail this thread, but was anyone else shocked to see Halloween products in the stores in mid August?
I suppose they don't have anything after the April Fourth of July Sale and the June Back to School promotions, Christmas in July. Nothing for ten weeks so let's get the Halloween stuff out.

I have always loved Halloween. I always liked to go to costume parties. I liked having the kids come to our door in their cute costumes, even the teens sans halloween costumes. We had a reputation for giving out the BIG candy bars. I dressed as a witch and answered the door. As I got older the wrinkles that I penciled in became easier to find.

Here in The Villages there are a lot of jack o lanterns on light posts and some fun decorations on golf carts.

Gracie, I always loved how cute the kids looked and how excited they got when I would tell them that I liked their costumes. In my old neighborhood, families would dress up and come around the neighborhood together. Even their dogs!
I would sit outside my door with a big bowl of treats and let each child pick two. They would say "wow two"? :a040:

When we first came for a visit, the only town square was Spanish Springs. We happened to be here on Halloween. Residents dressed in costume sitting in chairs surrounding the Square----with candy. Children came-, walked around the circle in costumes collecting candy from those residents participating. What a sight! There is still a lady at Spanish Springs with candy in her purse---looking for children and she hands them candy after asking their parents if o.k. She says it makes her happy to see the surprise and smile on the children's faces.

I am new to this world. Only been on earth a little while. What is a Holiday really for? Why do earthlings make such a fuss. is it really only about money as many have told me????

One of the things we will miss when we move to TV will be the Trick or Treaters.

Everywhere we have lived we were famous for giving out the best bag of goodies around and every kid tried to stop at our house first.

We've got 2 more here in Georgia before the big move to our home in Pinellas.

We actually start preparing the bags in September, so seeing the stuff in the stores already is fine for us.
