Roof Leak

Can anyone reccommend a good, reliable roof repair contractor? My roof leaked due to the recent heavy rain, and I don't want to pick a repair person without good references.

call Home Warranty. They will give you the orignal installer. They will also advise if that installer is still on the recommended contractor list.

Why would anyone want to use the guy who installed the roof that leaks?

Well, it may not be a defect in installation. And it may be repaired at no or low cost. Our neighbor had a roof leak because a worker did not properly install flashing in a seam. It leaked into a bedroom. He called Warranty and the original roofer came out and repaired it at no charge and covered the cost of repairing the damage in the bedroom. My neighbor was not here at the time and asked me to coordinate with the roofer. The man who came to look over the problem was the owner of the company and he was disgusted by what he saw. He came back after the repairs were done to make certain it was completed properly. These were spec homes built during the 2005-6 period when they were selling as fast as they could build them. There were a few, usually minor, problems.

I don't remember. This was five years ago. Best to call Warranty and get the name of the roofer who did your home.
