Re: Retired Railroaders?
I recently retired from CONRAIL in January '08. Worked as a Train Dispatcher for the CSX in Selkirk NY during the Conrail acquisition. We will be renting one of the manufactured homes for the month of January 2008. We are going to try the village life to see if this is what we want.

Husband is in signals dept st Louis division. We live in southern Indiana.
Just put in for an inspectors job. Hope he gets it. Over the years i have talked with many a dispatcher . The one he talks to now is in Jacksonville Florida. What village are you renting?Too many to decide. |

Well have you decided whether the Villages are for you. Still renting or buying. What is the closest village near the Regional Hospital. I may need to work still as an RN.

My husband works for BNSF in Minneapolis. He'll be retiring in a few years. We own a house in Amelia. We can't wait to be down there fulltime!!!

Presently working for Norfolk Southern Corp. in Charlotte, NC. Plans are to take railroad early retirement at 57, and move to TV. Which can't come, soon enough!!

Retired clerk from Norfolk Southern.

My Grandpa retired from the Milwaukee Road - in 1958. I just love Trains!
My Grandson is a freak about trains too. . |
My husband and I retired from Conrail. We worked previously for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Penn Central Corp.

Soon to be 57 , my husband may need to be on occupational disability . Been off since June with a total knee replacement. The Doc compared his knees to carpet layers and roofers. If so , the house goes on the market and we will see you in the villages. I may want to work til 60. we may need the insurance for 2 years or so.

If your husband goes on disability, he can get insurance, for the both of you
with the railroad. Unlike SS. Railroad disability is very easy to get, if you have 30 years service and over 55. |
