Golf at Juliette Falls -The good and the bad

Problem: Today three foursomes travelled 50 minutes each way and paid $40 including a nice lunch. Still no problem at all. Shortly after teeing off we realized there were two 5somes (yes, that's 5somes) immediately in front of us. A quick call to the Pro Shop was responded with (we will send someone out to take care of it) Of course no one ever showed up. Turns out it was their Men's day and they don't seem to give a damn if their members play in 5somes. Tried to discuss with the Manager in the Pro Shop after golf and were greeted with a cavalier attitude that seemed to indicate they didn't care whether we liked it or not. Seems like a pretty poor policy to me. Thought you'd like to know.

Seems like a common problem no matter where you go. They often start as a threesome and a two some or two threesomes and once past the first tee box they morph into a fivesome or bigger.
I am on the executive at my local course here in Alberta and this issue is often brought up at board meetings. To make matters worse, sometimes the biggest offenders are other board members!
Unfortunately we don't have paid marshalls on our course and rely on member volunteers to marshall, so it is difficult to police these reprobates and they are usually repeat offenders.
When I catch up to them, I usually just say "I see you have a larger group than is allowed, so we are just going to play through", not "can we play through" or "will you allow us to play through" we just say we are going to do it and it works!!

Nice try but they both started as 5somes with the blessing of Management. In my experience this is inexcusable.

I would still use my usual "I see you have a larger group than is allowed, so we are just going to play through" despite the pro-shop or starter allowing them to start as 5's

Sometimes, you just have to out them in their place!

Just think ---- you could have played the villages championship courses and had many foursome in front of you which probably would have taken longer then the five-some in front of you at Juliette Falls. They are all retired and they are in no rush. They forget they have a short shelf life and many thing to do before expiration date. You would not been able to say
"it's a great golf course; challenging and always in great condition."
" paid $40 including a nice lunch."

What's the hurry? Slow down and enjoy the outing.

So, what was your intention?

By posting, you invite dialogue. It is unfortunate that the dialogue was not what you wanted, but we can't read your mind.
