TVs on the Lanai

I already have some concerns about how close the houses and lanais are to each other. That can be ameliorated to a degree with landscaping. Have people found that noise from TVs on the lanai is a problem? I would think that the sound would carry and of people had any kind of hearing deficit that the noise would be disturbing to neighbors.
I would appreciate any opinions.

I'm thinking maybe not all the houses are the same distance from the next lanai as others. Is yours too close?

Ours are very close, and we have not, thankfully, had anyone put a tv out on the lanai. It would truly destroy our peace and quiet, and I would have to become assertive and talk to the owner.

My husband did install a speaker out on the lanai that projects the tv sound out there, so we can sit there and listen to the evening news (that's all). I'm constantly turning it down so it will not offend anyone.

I think we should be very mindful of how close our neighbor are in TV. TVs on lanais could really disturb someone's peace and quiet.

Cf, mindfulness is the best word. I'm mindful that if I have a party I'd better invite the neighbors.

Every TV I have installed in a lanai has volume control that is operated by remote.

Lanai TV's are Awsome! Just be mindful of your neighbors...

Haven't you seen the "kissing lanais"........????

Most of the homes we saw were very close.

This is why I keep looking for something on a golf course, or privacy out back.

I could live with the "kissing lanai" and mature landscaping.

However, hubby prefers nothing out back.........he liked having the golf course out back in our rental home.

We have a tv on our enclosed lanai; however, when the weather is nice and the windows are open I went outside to see if the volume was offensive to my neighbors. Not only was it not offensive, but I couldn't even hear it. I imagine the enclosed space helps tremendously to mute the sound.

Our lanai TV has Bluetooth so we got a small Bluetooth speaker we can put next to us so we don't use the TV speakers. That way we can hear the sound but it doesn't carry outside the lanai.

It's not a remote problem. It is a problem that as some people age, they lose hearing and turn the volume up. Not many people will go for the wireless earphones that you have to wear to keep the volume contained to the viewer.

My husband wears headphones while watching TV inside. He has some hearing loss and this enables me to read or whatever without being subjected to high volume. I only hope if our house sells and we purchase in TV that we have neighors who are considerate and aware that sound carries. We hope to purchase a home which is offset; we would love a golf course or water view with no houses behind, but at the rate the prices are going up, that does not look like a possibility. We are particularly sensitive to noise because we have been living in Mexico for eight hears and noise is the norm here.
