Any acoustic guitar players out there

I'm re-posting a message from last year about looking for other Acoustic Guitar Players who play the same music I do. The original message is below. I also included a website that developed from a partnership formed as a result of my original posting. It wasn't my intention to go public but I found a partner, Sherrie, from that post and we ended up putting together an acoustic duo act. She will be away for the next three months and I still want to continue playing and hopefully continue to build my song list. So if anyone wants to get together for some fun or possibly the occasional public appearance, let me know. Check out the website for some clips from our appearances that should give you a clear picture of what we do. And for what it's worth, Sherrie and I have been very well received and appreciated for the genre of music we play.

(Original Post) I'm stuck in the 70s you might say. America, Eagles, etc. and would love to find others into the same music who want to get together.

None here, they're either out in the Desert on a Horse With no Name or stuck in the Hotel California.

But I am a fan of the Eagles too.

Check the Clubs lisitings, there may be something there:

ps. Ovations are great guitars, I have an early 80's Applause, which I am less than adept at playing.

Well said. Actually I play at least one song from a bunch of different people/groups.

Hey, you think that's bad? I'm stuck in the 50s! I took guitar lessons for 4 years in the early 50s. Eventually I stopped playing. Several months ago I tried to pick it up again, using my old lesson sheets and booklets, but it's frustrating. It's like I'm a beginner again and I don't have the patients to practice everyday.

Now, there is a Beatles Club in The Villages.

I have a hankering to join up when I get down in another 3 months or so.

Thanks for the info.

There also several acoustic guitar clubs. There's a basic three chord song play around club on Thursday mornings at Paradise. It's pretty basic but I find it to be a lot of fun and the people are great. Like many clubs down here it's very country music based.
On Tuesday mornings at the Churchill Rec Center is the Advanced Acoustic Workshop with Gary Davis who is a great player and teacher. Gary usually has a theme for each meeting and does a little lesson after which there is a play around. They use a lot of great complex chords. The philosophy is never use one chord when you can use six.
Then there is Sparky's Strummers on Thursday mornings, a Folk club, a Bluegrass club and several others.
Check out the rec dept news here: http://www.thevillagesdailysun.com/a...es/recnews.pdf

Oh yea, and then there is the Beatlemanics of the Villages. We use a combination of acoustic and electric instruments, keyboards, drums and whatever else anyone wants to bring and play.

Thank you for the information. Someone mentioned your name in connection with the Talk of the Villages. I still work full time so most clubs won't work for me. My interest is really to find other guitar players who play the same songs I refer to as classic rock. I really miss having at least one additional guitar for rhythm and lead plus a second voice for harmony.

My husband plays acoustic guitar, and also looking for other acoustic guitar players to jam with. He plays classic rock, sings and plays harmonica. songs from 60's, 70's. Eagles, Stones, Lynard Skynard, variety. send a PM to get together.

That sounds great. I pretty much play rhythm guitar and sing. Give me a call when you get down here and we can get together. I play mostly 60s with a little bit of 50s thrown in, but I can stretch a bit and learn some 70s stuff.

I live here and work full time from home so I'm generally available in the evenings.
