What was your first car
:pop:What was your first car? Mine was a 1961 Ford Falcon. Not a Barrett Jackson collector by any means. LOL It did keep the petroleum industry in business. Fill the oil - check the gas.

Re: WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CAR
It was a 1957 Plymouth. The engine was great, but the wind whistling through the floor board and door required my friends and I to shout at each other. I believe I paid $375 for it in 1965. When the noise got too bad, I bought a 1957 Pontiac convertible and the guy who bought my Plymouth put the engine in a stock car. The stock car raced for several years after that. That Pontiac had 3 2 barrel carbs on it and a chrome accelerator that said "power gas."

1960 Ford Special (I believe that it was a no frills Fairlane). Black on red vinyl.
3 on the tree but i had to get out at many red lights to move the linkage myself! I tore the cross member out when i hit a stump in the woods. |
Re: WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CAR
When I was in high school back in the early 60's, I had a 1936 candy apple red Plymouth Coup with a rumble seat and running boards. It was a "chick magnet" sure brings back a lot of great memories, regrettably I sold it when I went to college.

I had a '73 Audi 100 LS in '77 - '79. If the outside temp was over 80 and you were making a left turn the horn would beep. The speedometer needle fell off. The passenger side window slipped off the frame and wouldn't close. If you got it up in mountains over 5,000 feet (like going to Lake Tahoe) you had to remove the air filter and cover so it could get more air. Other than that it was a great car. . |
1951 Hudson Hornet 2 door Coupe. Straight 6 engine that could move out faster than some V8 Fords of the same vintage.

A '51' Plymouth coupe..the polar opposite of a "chick magnet". Swapped even for a black '48' Ford...that was better.

I had a 1948 Buick with stick shift. It wasn't pretty but it got us around. We called it the Blue Goose. It burned more oil than gas. Some great memories.

First car
My first car was a 1955 Rambler Country Club. It was two-tone of cream color on the top and sea-green body. The car had the Continental kit of the covered spare tire on the end of the trunk.

First car was a 64 Olds Cutlass that was totaled 3 weeks after I bought it by being hit by a stolen car. 2nd car was a 70 Pontiac GTO Ram Air IV

1932 Chevrolet sedan. Bought it for $65.00. Had a part time job in a garage and spent all my wages keeping it running. Roof leaked, floor boards leaked so passenger got wet feet if we hit a puddle. Brake cables froze in winter. It was a winner but only way I had to get to high school. Ran it for a couple of years then traded it for a 1932 Indian Scout motorcycle.
