Your favorite village
OK, this is for champion6 who called out my last thread as <yawn>. So here's what I got for ya :boxing2:
What is your favorite village if you can not choose your own? And why would you choose it? |
<yawn>
Ok, just kidding. They are all my favorite. |
The Lynnhaven Corridor, consisting of the central portion of TV on its west side where there are five villages: Lynnhaven, Bonnybrook, Ashland, Belvedere, and Tall Trees. Why? Location, location, location!
Close to Publix and tons of other shopping on CR-466, countless restaurants, just about all the banks in TV, a large number of medical offices including those at Laurel Manor, Lifetime Learning College, Belvedere Library, Lake Sumter Landing which includes another supermarket, Sweetbay (though Spanish Springs is only a bit further), Doggie Do Run Run Dog Park, the post office at Oxford, and on and on. All but the last two are golf cart accessible. Also, close to major regional rec center Laurel Manor and in between Arnold Palmer and Glenview country clubs. In addition, the Corridor includes two family pools (at Pimlico and Churchill Street Rec Centers). |
la zamora, valle verde, la reynalda.......all are gorgeous. the huge trees and mature plantings make this a real garden spot!

We chose Amelia/Hadley area six years ago by looking at the Village map and location of all three squares before BW was even started. We feel we are pretty central. By car it takes five minutes to LS, 12 minutes to SS and about 13-14 minutes to BW.
We are two miles from Colony Plaza which has a Publix, Banks, Walgreens, Bealls, etc and about 2.5 miles from Sweetbay. We are directly in the middle of two major rec centers, Lake Miona on one side and Colony in the other direction. Not to mention we are a hop, skip and jump from Fruitland park and on the way to Leesburg. |
I would have to put my vote for favorite village to either Sanibel or Gilchrist only because obviously these are the two villages that residents, renters, or vacationers put their garbage out at noontime on Sunday for Monday pickup.

Greenwich, as far as I'm concerned it is THE Village.
|
Winifred. Central to everything. Second would be Virgina Trace, same reason.

My village is the best. It is so beautiful and peopled with interesting and dramatic folks. The ages range from 52 to the eighties and we have a mixture of all kinds of personalities and backgrounds. People are proud of their property and watch out for each other. Nearby is a mix of homes bigger and smaller than ours and we can go by golfcart to all three squares and 12 championship golf courses and 32 nine hole courses. We can drive in our carts to the grocery and to the doctor and to church and to the Lifelong Learning College and to dozens of sparkling pools and gorgeous rec centers and take classes or sing or play music and in those carts we can pass by vistas of water and palm trees and tropical blooms and pass bikers and walkers and runners and see beautiful and clean everywhere.
My village is peopled with people who pay their bills and follow the rules and are damn sassy and smart and a little stubborn. Most of them have a few wrinkles but my eyes can see the 16 year old trapped inside each of them. My village at night is quiet and safe and if I am getting a glass of milk at two A.M. sometimes I see the Villages Watch truck go slowly and quietly down our streets. My village has some sweet dogs and some enjoyable owners who don't let them go on my lawn but let me pet them and give them a treat. My village was planned as part of a history making place where for the first time in the history of man, over 100 thousand of the smartest and oldest and most experienced folks would gather to live some wonderful years on this earth. My village is just like every other village in this remarkable place. |
