Can't believe what I just saw!

Walking my dogs . ( I have a light up leash and flashlight ) A person came speeding around the corner on the wrong side of the road in a golf cart. She swerved to avoid hitting a man that was almost finished crossing on the opposite side. Problem is she wasn;t anywhere near him. Her unrestrained puppy went flying out of the cart and rolling across the street. At first I thought it was a plastic shopping bag. She just kept driving yelled at the man and actually drove up on the curb as she went down the street. When I saw the stunned face looking up I nearly died and screamed after the women. She didn't even know her dog had fallen out of the cart. She was too busy yelling about a man in the street. I was watching from a short distance and think I had a pretty good perspective of what happened.
Watching the whole thing was pretty upsetting and I hope the puppy is ok. I couldn't help because my dogs were barking and a little out of control for all the commotion.
if that's not bad enough Coming back I stayed up on someones grass to come around the corner with my leash and flashlight on. A car actually came up on the curb. I guess my evening walks have come to an end permanently.:blahblahblah:

IMO She was wrong...and I assume she stopped for her dog! But You need more than flashlight and lighted leashes--A friend and I were driving 2 years ago to look at Christmas lights and a man with white shirt out walking dog--we almost hit him--could not see him or dog...I went out and bought a reflective vest...Still a reflective vest is no help for reckless drivers I agree--which is what you ran into--reading your experience would make me think 2X about walking dogs at night

I walk early, early in the morning when the sky is just getting light, I have reflective clothing and a flasher and I still get up on the curb when golf carts or cars come towards me. We tend to forget we live in a retirement community and people's eyesight is not as good as it used to be ..................

Also, it makes a difference where you are walking after dark. I choose a route and time when there is virtually no one out. And we use lights and whites. Still, it's a chance you take.

Please strap grandchildren in

The most shocking thing for me is that with all that has been posted here and the newspapers is that this lady didn't have here dog strapped with a harness. She didn't even know it fell out til I screamed at her going down the road
