Best Place For Fish Fry
My wife's birthday falls on a Friday and so she desires to follow tradition and eat at a fish place. she likes a fish fry. Suggestions? |
I think Lighthouse has great fried fish and a beautiful view. I also enjoy the seasoned whitefish at Cane garden. You can't go wrong with either.

Let the Lighthouse reccommendations begin.
|
The Lighthouse for the view - if you get there before sundown and snag an outdoor table.
Hacienda Hills Country Club for the excellent fried fish. Take the beer battered fish over the panko battered fish. You will not be sorry! |
DiscoverCitrusCounty.com - Oysters of Crystal River
Crystal River, a 40 minute drive. South of town a few miles is Homosassa ParK, great for viewing wildlife/manatees and with a boatride. Make it special...get outta here! |
If you want a good fish fry, go to Bonifay and have 'fish n chips'
If you want a 'view' go to Lighthouse! |

The fish and chips at Bonefish are really great, my wife and I split a salad and an order of fish and chips, more than enough to eat. I usually don't like tartar sauce but theirs is very fresh and tasty..

Can't beat The Lighthouse for fried fish, service and ambiance

kittygilchrist, you mentioned grouper. YUM!
Is there any place close by that sells good grouper sandwiches? We are looking for a local place that has good grouper, clams, calamari, shrimp. Growing up on Clearwater Beach we got spoiled by the offering of really fresh, inexpensive places like "Frenchy's". That will be on of the first things we look for as we move to TV. Any favorites out there within driving distance for an evening or lunch? Thx! |
Where I come from (Toledo, Ohio) on Lake Erie, a fish fry is different than going out for some fried fish. A fish fry usually involved either perch or walleye and was usually at a VFW hall or a church. For one price you would get all you could eat of the best tasting fish with a bunch of great sides.

Stumpknockers on the river.

We're from the New Bedford, Ma area, so we're use to seafood fresh off the boat. While I agree with all the other recommendations, no one has mentioned Sam's St. John's in Spruce Creek Terrace. Good fried scallops, fish (usually haddock or cod), oysters, and on Fridays, whole bellied clams. Also, checkout the crystal petals, like a bloomin' onion, but big, separate chunks of onion. We've got everybody in our golf group going there. Not fancy, but the food is good.
