Singles Halloween Costume Party

Hi All.

Chax3 and I - along with a few other closeted superheros, princesses, witches, vampires and assorted alter egos, were tossing around a few ideas for what kind of party (costume, of course) we should have for a Singles Halloween Event.

It's been a long time since most of us have had the nerve to play dress up, but, we had to admit the Villages has, pretty much, rid us of those silly inhibitions and truthfully who wouldn't get a real kick out of it.

Apparently, Katie Bell's has a costume party of some kind, but, we don't have the details. That was just one option, especially if there aren't enough of us willing to let our hair down that night. But, of course it wouldn't be strictly for singles. So, I'm throwing this out there for all of you singles who'd like to go to a Halloween costume party. Any ideas? Location? Themed or not? Hold it in a rec center, someone's home or we could just join the rest of the residents at some hot spot? We have enough time to get input from everyone and if well organized, it could be one heck of a fun night.

Please give us your ideas by, either, posting here or send a PM to Chax3.

Thanks, Katie

I actually had a costume I put together for a party with a 60s, 70s theme that got cancelled. Had it in my hand to throw out but tossed it in a box. I've been dying to wear it to a party....psychedelic dress, funky jewelry...just need some go-go boots

Kate, its great there are people like you who are willing to even suggest such a great idea! Congrats for being a leader and not afraid to step up. Having fun and being imaginative has no age limit. You sound like a fun person - keep it up - we need you! House parties can be fun.

You must be in your early 40's, right?

That was about the last age we felt like dressing up for Halloween.
We still had kids in high school and at home then.....plus in college.

It was indeed fun to plan outrageous costumes......something now at our age we wouldn't want to bother with.........it's our grandchildren's turn now.

However, I still get a chuckle out of a party we attended at our best friend's home next door to us.........all of us "mummies", "gypsies", you name it......were gathered towards the end of the party, in the kitchen of the host.........when a doctor's wife asked "Who did you say that woman was?"............she was referring to our dear, now deceased, but at the time about the age we are now........male neighbor.

She had sat in the living room, conversing with him/her for HOURS.

He had borrowed all of his wife's clothing..........skirt, blouse, pantyhose, wig, makeup, etc., jewelry, etc.........and the only non fashionable item were his regular sneakers or now called running shoes........just didn't go with the rest of the outfit............but she still totally thought he was a woman.

It was hilarious. We miss him so much.

There is really nothing funnier than a guy dressing like a gal.

Thanks for the memories............next time we shop we have Reeses Peanut Butter Cups on our list, along with Hershey's miniatures to give out to our hordes of trick or treaters..........whose costumes always amaze us.

Thus, at age 68, we now live vicariously through them. Don't have the energy to put together a costume.

Hold on...I refuse to believe that just because you're over 55 you're automatically forced - by public scrutiny (or because you've lost the will to be imaginative) - to live vicariously through those youngins' in their 40's (or your grandchildren). Come on! DRESSING UP IN COSTUMES IS FUN AT ANY AGE!. As the other costume enthusiasts, here, have attested, age has no bearing on the ability to make fool of yourself. It's our God given right. So get out that mummy costume and give us a good scare!

Halloween party for singles

Kate, I have a table reserved at the Classic Rock & Roll dance at Laurel Manor on the 27th. That will give us 14 seats, and tix are $5 each. So dress up and be silly...now there's a place to go. this dance has a band and usually sells out with 225 capacity.
I'll need a pm or post here so we know who is coming...
Kitty

I'm there!

Bonnevie 10-01-2013 08:29 AM

Kitty I'd like a spot at the table on the 27th.

We've lived here 5 years and every year but one we have been to a Halloween costume party. They have been great fun. If it is well organized it is a great time. People go all out with their costumes. Rather than renting a costume I have found very reasonably priced and very nice costumes on the internet.

Rgraves 10-01-2013 10:21 AM

Kitty, count me in on the 27th!! thanks, Ronnye

Hi Katie, I called Katie Belles and learned that they are taking reservations for the 31st....so, the details are it's $22.00 per person, includes dinner and you must be there no later than 5 pm to be seated. The woman I spoke with said that yes, you can stroll in, but she strongly suggested reservations. Let me know what you think. I'm busy dusting off my costume!!! Ronnye
